Our final General Meeting for 2015-2016 was a festive occasion learning about Tanabata, the Star Festival.  The main event of the meeting was the Installation of Officers for 2016-2017:  Ruby Warren, Nominating Director, pictured on the right, described the vases and verses prepared for each incoming officer.

Hosted by Saga Goryu, traditional Tanabata ikebana arrangements representing Orihime and Hikoboshi, the star-crossed lovers, were on display.  Twenty-seven members, including 3 guests, listened to Michiko Kornhauser’s kamishibai or  storytelling, and sang along with her.  In the remaining time, everyone busily decorated their own bamboo branches to take home.
