Exhibitions Galore
The Portland Ohara group kicked off our series of fall ikebana exhibitions in September at the Japanese Garden, followed by Ryusei Ha’s exhibition. After a two-year hiatus, the Chapter resumed the Annual Mum Show. Saturday’s rain and power outage did not deter visitors. Chapter members and visitors alike enjoyed the opportunity to see the artistry of six schools of ikebana using the chrysanthemum which showcased each school’s characteristics. The dark exhibition room was temporarily illuminated by lanterns, hastily provided by the Garden. The shadows and mood created by the lantern was an effective prelude to the following weekend exhibition theme, Haunted, by the Sogetsu school. Click on the following to see the photos of the exhibitions. (Note, Michiko Kornhauser managed to take the photos of the Mum Show, just before the power outage.)
