Hana Matsuri
Saga Goryu resumed their annual Hana Matsuri Ikebana Exhibition, at the Japanese Garden Cultural Village on April 8 and 9, taking part in the reopening of the Garden and hosting a steady stream of visitors to the newly completed gallery, performance, and instruction complex.
In Saga Goryu’s exhibit, Hanadome, or flower holders were featured, with red table cloths drawing the eye toward the holders and simple, elegant arrangements allowing the eye to rest on the rich variety of traditional fixtures. A new commemorative holder, the hachi yo ren, was presented in a seika arrangement of cymbidium. Representing an eight petal lotus flower, the hachi yo ren will be officially introduced in 2018 in conjunction with celebratory events at the Daikaku-ji, Kyoto, where the school is based.
