Farewell to Betty …
The Chapter – and the Ohara Seattle Chapter – have lost a talented designer, hard worker and dedicated member with the death of Betty Robinson. (November 2, 1922 ~ July 28, 2015)
Betty always participated in our exhibitions and loved to be a hostess. She served for several years on the Chapter Board; her final term in 2011-2012, on the Hospitality and Nominations Committees. Although she was unable to come herself, she sent a basket arrangement (below) to be included in Ohara Chapter’s Spring Exhibition at the Portland Japanese Garden. She wanted to be sure she was represented. She continued to teach out of her home until just before her passing.
At Betty’s Celebration of Life held on August 3, representing the Seattle Ohara Chapter, her teacher Phyllis Danielson, and fellow II members Ruby Warren and Judy Harpel provided alter arrangements, including the wreath by Phyllis.
Betty was a retired teacher who taught her entire career in Vancouver and later served as the State President of the Retired Teachers Association.
