Ways of Seeing 紫陽花 (hydrangea): ikebana and Japanese calligraphy share similar goals, each with unique expressions of their art form. For the meeting’s program, the North America Chapter of Saga Goryu will bring these two practices together — calligraphy will be accompanied by ikebana, featuring the hydrangea. June is the beginning of the rainy season in Kyoto and hydrangea is the official flower for June, making it an apt choice for our display.
