The new Board of Directors for 2017-2018 was installed at the June general meeting by the Nominating Director, Judy Harpel.   The program titled,  “What’s New at My School” showed how our ancient schools continue to evolve with fresh ideas.

Representing the Ikenobo school, Kathryn Cochran explained how the introduction of Shimputai modernized the traditional forms of their ikebana.  Carolyn Alter demonstrated the use of feathers in an Ohara School arrangement.  Keiko Kodachi made an arrangement in a glass container, a theme from the newly published Sogetsu Textbook 5.  Michiko Kornhauser used the Hachi yo ren, a new holder introduced last year by Saga Goryu school, for her arrangement.  Please click here to see their arrangements and other photos from the June GM.
