Brunch and sale raise friends, cash
Incoming II President Heida Bruce, a recent transfer from San Francisco, introduced a new event to the II Portland calendar–a special sale and brunch in Heida’s Raleigh Hills garden. Some twenty-five II members, their students, and other guests, attended.
The sale gave II members an opportunity to recycle gently used items. They donated containers and other Ikebana supplies, which Heida included in her offerings. At the sale, longtime artists and beginning students alike found items of interest to inspire future arrangements. The sale raised $947 for Ikebana International projects.
Heida’s wonderful food, the lovely creek-side setting and informal atmosphere gave II members a chance to mingle and chat and get to know one another better. One guest, new Ohara student Barbara Zavanelli-Morgan joined II on the spot.
Our chapter is very grateful to Heida for her hospitality and leadership. Thanks also to her planning committee: Barbara Beers, Helen Chadsey, Kathryn Cochran, Judy Jensen and Mariam Triglia.
