Ohara School

The Ohara school was started in the late 19th century by Unshin Ohara, who introduced a new style of arrangement, Moribana, using broad, low containers instead of the more formal tall vases; traditional proportions and placements were adapted to these containers. With an emphasis on the beauty of nature, Ohara developed the Landscape Design and the Rimpa Style (based on the Rimpa Style screen paintings), and continues to expand and modernize their teaching to reflect current lifestyles.

Ohara is taught locally by: Kitty Akre (503) 255-7280 and Phyllis Danielson (360) 576-7963
